Milltown is a progressive bluegrass band with traditional roots. The band hails from the Quad-Cities on the banks of the Mighty Mississippi River between Iowa and Illinois. The band takes its name from one of the local communities, Moline, which roughly translates from French to English as “Milltown.”
Milltown has played alongside such bands as The Henhouse Prowlers, Colorado natives Head For The Hills, West Coast favorites Hot Buttered Rum and the Steep Canyon Rangers, Steve Martin's band.
The band's influences include Bill Monroe, John Hartford, Flatt & Scruggs, The Punch Brothers, Nickel Creek, Yonder Mountain String Band, Avett Brothers, Old Crow Medicine Show, Greensky Bluegrass, Ralph Stanley, Tony Rice, Old & In The Way, Garcia/Grisman, Sam Bush, Del McCoury, Bela Fleck, Alison Kraus, New Grass Revival, Hot Rize, Tim O'Brien, Peter Rowan, Sam Bush and Doc Watson.
